In late 2020, Fratello released maduro variations of its various DMV blends in a 12-count sampler called the DMV Maduro Selection. Next week, that sampler will return to stores for its sophomore release.

The 2024 version includes the same four cigars that the 2020 version had. Each sampler will come with three of the following:

  • Fratello DMV Delaware Maduro (6 x 50)
  • Fratello DMV Maryland Maduro (6 x 50)
  • Fratello DMV Virginia Maduro (6 x 50)
  • Fratello DMV Washington D.C. Maduro (6 x 50)

There are two minor changes. First, the sampler’s price has increased to $140; the 2020 release had an MSRP of $132. Second, there will be just 200 boxes compared to 600 boxes for the original.

Fratello has not disclosed the blend of any of these cigars, but they are made at Fábrica de Tabacos Joya de Nicaragua S.A.

DMV is a reference to an area in the northeast that includes Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., which is where Fratello is based. In 2018, the company introduced the original DMV Series as a regional release for retailers in the area.

“Anyone that knows me knows that the DMV Series holds a special place in my heart, and for selfish reasons, I wanted to run the Maduro Selection again,” said Omar de Frias, ceo of Fratello, in a press release. “With all four blends in one sampler, everyone can enjoy the full experience as much as I do.”

Update — The original version of this story incorrectly stated that Delaware was part of the DMV acronym.
