Espinosa Premium Cigars recently expanded its 601 brand of cigars with the 601 Steel, a new exclusive release for Famous Smoke Shop in Easton, Pa. The cigars began shipping in mid-September and are currently available at Famous’ retail location as well as via the store’s website.
The new addition to the 601 line is a Nicaraguan puro that uses a habano oscuro wrapper and is billed as full-bodied and bold, with “a smoke that’s tough as nails,” according to Famous’ website. It’s being released in four sizes, all coming in 20-count boxes: the 5 x 54 Rod ($7.41 per cigar, currently $118.99 per box), 6 x 52 Girder ($7.54, $120.99), 7 x 50 Spike ($7.54, $120.99) and 6 x 60 Anvil ($8.45, $135.99). The cigars are made at Espinosa’s La Zona factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
It’s the second store exclusive for the 601 line, as in 2010 the 601 Edición Limitada 2010 “MACHO” was created for Sabor Havana in Doral, Fl.
I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
