E.P. Carrillo has announced the return of its Short Run line, the first time it will be released since 2016.

Making the announcement via Cigar Aficionado, the company said the line will use an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco in the filler. It will be offered in three sizes, each coming in 24-count boxes:

  • E.P. Carrillo Short Run Retro 2021 Short Play (5 x 50) — $7.50 (Box of 24, $180)
  • E.P. Carrillo Short Run Retro 2021 Extended Play (6 x 52) — $8.50 (Box of 24, $204)
  • E.P. Carrillo Short Run Retro 2021 Long Play (6 x 60) — $9.50 (Box of 24, $228)

The first batch of cigars is scheduled to ship next week to 150 retailers and will account for 40,000 cigars. The company said it is hoping to do a second production later in the year that will allow it to ship to more stores.

Emails sent to E.P. Carrillo seeking confirmation of the story’s accuracy and a request for information about the new line have not yet been returned.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
