A new vitola for Elogio Serie LSV and Serie Habano lines will soon be showing up on retailers’ shelves, joining a limited edition cigar that made its debut at the IPCPR Convention and Trade Show in mid-July.
The 5 1/8 x 54 Robusto Especial vitola is being added to the company’s two core lines: Serie Habano and Serie LSV. The announcement was made earlier via the company’s Facebook page.
Just days before this year’s trade show, Elogio confirmed the release of a limited edition Robusto Especial that uses an Ecuadoran Habano Oscuro wrapper, Nicaraguan Habano Viso binder Jalapa and filler from the Jalapa and Estelí regions of Nicaragua. The company is limiting that cigar to 300 boxes of 10 cigars, for a total run of 3,000 sticks.
Elogio also released a limited edition addition to their Excentrico series, as the Excentrico No. 2 is a 7 1 /4 x 58 Salomon vitola with a fantail cap that uses an Ecuadoran Habano Oscuro wrapper over a Nicaraguan Habano binder and a filler that uses five different leaves all from Nicaragua: Estelí ligero and viso, Jalapa ligero and seco and viso from Ometepe. Production on that cigar is limited to 200 boxes of 10 cigars, for a total run of 2,000 sticks.
halfwheel contacted Nabil Sabbah of Elogio who wasn’t able to comment on the Facebook post.
Update (August 12, 2013) — Nabil Sabbah said that Elogio is producing 1500 boxes of 10 in both the Serie LSV and Serie Habano blends for the initial run, and that they are hoping to increase production to 3,000 boxes of each next year, if the leaf that they are currently curing becomes suitable for production. “We realized that our Salomon blends, LSV and Habano, translated very well for this size with minor tweaks to give it its own personality,” he said. “The richness and fullness of the Salomones in a Robusto Especial size was very attractive to us; it captured all of what we love about the Salomon with a bit more of white pepper and espresso flavors.”
He expects the cigars to begin shipping by the end of August, both with an MSRP of $9.50 per cigar.
