In 2023, Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson was inducted into the Cincinnati Bengals’ Ring of Honor, and now his cigar company is commemorating that honor with a new, limited edition cigar.

It’s called Ochocinco’s Cigar of Honor, and comes in a 6 x 60 gordo vitola, with a blend that uses an Ecuadorian habano maduro wrapper, an Indonesian binder, and fillers from Nicaragua’s Jalapa and Condega regions.

“Our goal with the Cigar of Honor is to give our supporters something truly special,” said Johnson in a press release. “It’s not just about celebrating my career—it’s about creating a legacy for everyone who’s been part of the journey.”

Each cigar is encased in a bespoke, customized tube and housed in a handcrafted, gloss-coated cedar wood box. The package includes a felt pouch, a certificate of authenticity, and a Legacy Protector box, ensuring that the cigars are preserved in style.

Production is limited to 850 boxes of 10 cigars, with pricing set at $850 per box. Customers wishing to secure their boxes can reserve them by placing a non-refundable $85 deposit via Eighty5 Cigars’ website by Oct. 11 at 11:59pm EST. All the boxes will be signed by Ochocinco, and one lucky Cigar of Honor supporter will win two tickets to Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, with the added opportunity to meet Chad Johnson in person during Super Bowl week to receive their Cigar of Honor package.

The cigars are scheduled to begin shipping in late November or early December.

Update — Shortly after this article was published, a representative from Eighty5 Cigars informed halfwheel that the cigars would measure 6 x 60, not 5 1/2 x 62 as shown in promotional images of the box. Additionally, the cigar bands will have the year 2024 on them instead of 2023. The article has been updated accordingly.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
