At the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show next month, Drunk Chicken Cigars will release the newest incarnation of its Homicidal Hen, the company’s limited edition cigar that is released annually.

Once again, Homicidal Hen will be a 5 1/2 x 50 robusto extra vitola. The blend will also remain the same as the three previous releases, specifically, a Pennsylvania broadleaf wrapper covering an Ecuadorian binder and Nicaraguan fillers. In addition, the production of the 2023 incarnation mirrors last year’s version: a total of 5,000 cigars to be released, packaged in 20-count boxes.

The Homicidal Hen debuted in 2020; since then, the company has released the cigar once per year.

According to Desiree Sylver, owner of Drunk Chicken Cigars, the MSRP of Homicidal Hen 2023 will be $14 per cigar and the cigars are scheduled to ship to retailers at the end of July. The company is not disclosing the name of which factory the cigars are rolled at but has confirmed that the factory is located in the state of Florida.

The 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show takes place July 8-11 in Las Vegas.

I have worn many hats in my life up to this point: I started out as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, then transitioned to photographing weddings—both internationally and in the U.S.—for more than a decade. After realizing that there was a need for a cigar website containing better photographs and more in-depth information about each release, I founded my first cigar blog, SmokingStogie, in 2008. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars, and it was one of the predecessors to halfwheel, which I co-founded.
