Davidoff’s Puro d’Oro line of cigars is getting both a new size and a new look in the coming weeks.
According to a story posted by Cigar Aficionado, a new 5 1/2 x 56 vitola called the Gigantes will be added to the line, with arrival at retail set for June. The entire line will abandon the gold foot band in favor of a gold band that more closely matches the rest of the Davidoff portfolio as it features the embossed Davidoff wordmark. The current bands make no mention of Davidoff but rather note the size of each cigar.
The new vitola seems to suggest that Davidoff is finally warming up to the large-ring gauge trend that has been part of the cigar industry for the past few years. Currently, the Puro d’Oro line has five cigars:
- Eminentes – 6 x 52 Toro
- Notable – 5 5/8 x 46 Corona Gorda
- Deliciosos – 4 7/8 x 43 Corona
- Magnificos – 5 1/8 x 52 Robusto
- Sublimes – 4 1/2 x 38 Petit Panetela
The Davidoff Puro d’Oro uses all Dominican tobacco with a wrapper from the Yamasá region of the country to create a stronger flavor profile than most consumers would associate with the luxury cigar brand.
