Today, Crowned Heads will begin shipping the new Le Carême Pastelitos LE 2023.

It’s a 4 x 54 short robusto version of the Le Carême line. Unlike the regular production sizes in the line, it is round instead of box-pressed and features a pigtail cap. The Pastelitos uses the same blend as the regular production vitolas: a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and fillers from Nicaragua. It is produced at Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.

The Le Carême Pastelitos LE 2023 has an MSRP of $12.95 per cigar and is limited to 1,250 boxes of 24 cigars.

“Since 2015, we’ve had a history of releasing limited edition short-format cigars for the cold weather months when a quick but satisfying smoke is necessary,” said Jon Huber, co-founder of Crowned Heads, in a press release when the cigar was announced. “Le Carême Pastelitos is the latest in this line of limitadas, and they’re as rich and tasty as the pastries they take their name from.

As for Huber’s reference to the pastries, plural, it’s the different parts of the cigar’s name. Le Carême, which was introduced in 2016, is named after the famed 19th-century French chef Marie-Antoine Carême, who was known for his contributions to grande cuisine, better known today as haute cuisine. Pastelitos are a Cuban puff pastry that can be filled with either sweet or savory filling.
