Brian Chinnock once again draws on his wine making background as he prepares to release his latest cigar, Pressoir, at the IPCPR Convention and Trade Show.

The Chinnock Cellars Pressoir is a box pressed Toro with a Habano Jalapa Maduro wrapper from Nicaragua. The cigar is being made in Honduras at the Compania Hondurena De Tabacos in Danli.

The name for the cigar, which is French, references an agricultural machine used to extract the juice from fruit, most commonly grapes or apples. It follows up on Chinnock’s Terroir line, which has been part of his offerings for the past two trade shows but doesn’t appear to be returning this year.

Update (July 11, 2013) — Brian Chinnock shared some additional information with halfwheel about the Chinnock Cellars Pressoir. He said it is to be limited to 4,000 cigars at this point, each coming with a price of $11.00 per cigar. He also confirmed the size will be a 6 x 52 box-pressed Toro and included this photo:

He also noted that the cigars were blended by Compañia Hondureña de Tabacos’ master blender, Adin Perez, and that the profile is “medium body, with a smooth dark chocolate and creamy flavor, with hints of nuts and spice on the finish.” The previously undisclosed blend consists of a Honduran binder and Nicaraguan and Honduran filler under a Jalapa Habano Maduro wrapper from Nicaragua.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
