Cavalier Genève has announced the acquisition of Tabak Rhein in Geneva, Switzerland, and that it will now become the brand’s flagship store.
Tabak Rhein, which is owned by Rhein SA, is the oldest existing cigar store in Geneva, having been founded in 1905 by Salomon Rhein, a Ukrainian immigrant. In its more than 100-year history, it has remained a family business and solidified itself as a staple of Geneva’s cigar culture.
Cavalier Genève completed the acquisition at the end of 2016, and the store has since been undergoing a remodel.
“We are very excited to merge the Cavalier of Geneva flagship store into a location with such history,” said brand owner Sebastien Decoppet, adding that “we intend to maintain the classic feel of this shop and respect its deep history here in Geneva.”
The three-story location will be renamed as “Rhein 1905,” a name Decoppet chose to honor the store’s legacy and history.
Cavalier Genève also recently released the Cavalier Genève Black Series, an exclusive cigar for the U.S. market that began shipping on Feb. 14.
