Two new Casdagli lines have started showing up on retailers’ shelves.

The first release is 25 Aniversario, a 7 1/2 x 52 double corona that was created to commemorate company founder Jeremy Casdagli’s 25 years in the cigar business. The newest addition to the company’s Traditional Line Series is made with an Ecuadorian wrapper covering a Dominican binder, and a combination of filler tobaccos from the Dominican Republic was blended by Hendrik Kelner Jr.

Each 25 Aniversario features an MSRP of $36 and the cigars are packaged in 10-count boxes, with only 4,000 cigars to be released per year. The cigars are made at the Kelner Boutique Factory in the Dominican Republic, which debuted in 2013.

In addition, Casdagli has shipped the first two members of its Brothers of the Sabre, a line created to honor military generals who were known for their love of tobacco. Formerly named The Napoleonic Collection, the line debuted with two different blends named Brave and Forrader, although the company has indicated that there will eventually be a total of eight different blends with two blends scheduled to be released over a period of four years.

The Brave cigar gets its name from Marshal Ney, a French general who was called “The Bravest of the Brave” by Napoleon following his command of the Grande Armee’s retreat from Moscow in 1812. That cigar is made up of an Ecuadorian wrapper covering an internal blend of tobaccos grown in the Dominican Republic.

Forrader is named after Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher—who was nicknamed “General Forwards” by his soldiers due to his aggressive tactics on the battlefield—a general who was well known for carrying a pipe into battle. Blend-wise, the Forrader incorporates an Ecuadorian wrapper, a binder grown in the Dominican Republic and a filler blend composed of tobaccos from the Dominican Republic, U.S.A. and Zimbabwe.

In an email, Triine Casdagli, marketing manager at Casdagli, told halfwheel that both the 25 Aniversario and the Brothers of the Sabre began shipping to retailers in the U.S. on Friday.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
