Casa Caraballo has announced that it has entered into a distribution agreement with Yanes Cigar SA that will bring its cigars to Colombia.

For the launch in the country, the company is releasing its Casa Caraballo 828 Oscuro and Claro in the 5 x 52 robusto vitola, while the 828 Silverback will be available in a 6 x 52 torpedo format, and the Apache will be available in the Romance size, a 5 5/8 x 46 corona vitola.

“Colombia’s an emerging market, and the new generation is in the exploratory phase of cigar smoking,” Mario Caraballo told halfwheel when explaining the selection of sizes that will be included in the debut. In particular, he noted that the robusto and cigars with similar ring gauges make it easier for new cigar smokers to enjoy.

Yanes Cigar SA is led by Yosue Yanes, who comes from a tobacco family in Cuba. After immigrating to Colombia, he launched his cigar distribution company that is headquartered in Medellin and works closely with the country’s top cigar and liquor stores.

“It’s always exciting when you partner with a company overseas,” Caraballo added. “Colombia is a new market for premium cigars from Central America. This project has been in the works for the last year, and finally, the brand is registered, and we have a reliable partner for our South American expansion.”

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
