Casa 1910 has begun shipping the Cuchillo Parado Reserva 2020, an aged cigar that harkens back to the company’s founding just a few years ago.

Like the regular production Cuchillo Parado that was part of the company’s debut offerings, the Cuchillo Parado Reserva 2020 is a Mexican puro that uses a Sumatra-seed wrapper, while the binder and filler are both San Andrés Negro tobacco. According to the company, the tobacco for the cigars was harvested in 2015 and aged for five years before being rolled in 2020. The cigars for the project were then organized into bundles of 50 and allowed to mature for three years within natural cedar-wood boxes from the southeastern region of Mexico. The company says that this maturation process allowed the cigars to attain “a perfect balance between strength, flavor, and aroma.”

“Crafting this cigar has been a privilege and a labor of love,” said Manolo Santiago, Casa 1910’s master blender, in a press release. “The dedication of our team and the unique aging process have yielded a cigar of exceptional character and complexity, sure to captivate connoisseurs around the globe.”

It is only being offered in a 5 x 50 robusto vitola, which is priced at $18 per cigar, or $900 for a box of 50 cigars. It’s also a limited batch of cigars, as just 50 boxes of 50 cigars are being released, a total of 2,500 cigars. Artisans in Veracruz, Mexico, handcrafted the cedar wood boxes, which the company says further enhances the cigars’ richness and keep them in pristine condition.

“Our vision for Cuchillo Parado Reserva 2020 was to create an extraordinary cigar that embodies the essence of time-honored traditions and the craftsmanship of our talented artisans,” said Jamie Baer, Co-Founder of Casa 1910, in a press release. “With each puff, aficionados will experience the harmonious fusion of heritage and expertise, resulting in a truly timeless smoking experience.”

The Casa 1910 Cuchillo Parado Reserva 2020, which premiered at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show, is making its retail debut at CigarClub.com, with shipments to additional retailers going out later this week.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
