This weekend, a new documentary following Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co. will debut on Amazon Prime and the first episode features Caldwell Cigar Co.

“Into the Wilderness” follows Arizona Wilderness as it finds inspiration for various beer. On one episode, that inspiration comes from Caldwell Cigar Co.

“Jonathan Buford and Patrick Ware, co-owners of Arizona Wilderness, called me and said ‘what if we go to the Dominican Republic and film an episode at the factory where Caldwell Cigars are made at?”’ said Jeremy McDonald of Down and Back Distributors, the company that distributes Caldwell and others brands, in an email to halfwheel. “The idea quickly turned into a reality. A month later we hosted their trip and joined them on an adventure through the Dominican Republic. The end result was a badass show showcasing the process of cigar manufacturing, learning about tobacco, and finding ingredients to make a specialty beer with…and a cigar to go with the beer.”

That cigar is called Curado, a 5 x 50 robusto using an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, a Dominican binder and Nicaraguan fillers. It will go on sale at an event at Puro Cigar Bar in Chandler, Ariz. this Saturday, where the episode will be shown. It is limited to 100 packs of five cigars and priced at $10 per cigar.

Arizona Wilderness has produced a beer called Curado, a barleywine aged in rum casks with spices.
