The small town of Bruce, Miss. has enacted a variety of new restrictions on public smoking. The law, which takes effect January 1, bans smoking in most public buildings, parks and the town square. In addition, smoking is prohibited within 20 feet from a business.
A report from WTVA indicates that “most businesses” are included in the ban as well, but the specifics of the exemptions. Violators will be fined $100 for the first offense, $200 for the second and $500 for a third offense.
Bruce is a town of less than 2,000 located in northern Mississippi, about 30 miles southeast of Oxford.
