Asylum Pays Tribute to Devil’s Night with New Cigar

“Help a firefighter—burn a cigar, not a house.”

That is Tom Lazuka’s motto for the newest cigar from the Asylum brand, Devil’s Night. It’s a cigar being created not for Halloween, but for an older Detroit tradition the night before. On Oct. 30, arson, vandalism and other petty crimes would take place within Detroit as part of the lead-up for Halloween. Now that event is getting a cigar.

The Asylum Devil’s Night will be offered in two sizes: 6 x 52 ($13) and 5 1/2 x 46 ($11). Each size will be limited to 500 boxes of 10 cigars. Production is being handled by Christian Eiroa’s El Aladino factory using only Honduran tobacco. A portion of the sales will benefit the firefighters of Detroit.

“We are very excited to launch this project in the area in which I grew up, especially with the beneficiaries I have in mind, which are the firefighters of Detroit,” said Lazuka. “Devils Night is something that is often misunderstood outside of Detroit and I wanted to spread light on the fact that Detroit is on the rise, even in the face of crisis.”

It’s an exclusive release for Jenuwine Cigar Factory Outlet, which is based in the Detroit area, although the store will allow other retailers to purchase cigars at wholesale prices. The cigar will launch on Oct. 30 at the Jenuwine Cigar Bars in Royal Oaks and Sterling Heights.

Asylum is distributed by CLE Cigar Co.
