Smokers in Adrian, Mich. will soon have fewer places to light up, as the city commission passed a smoking ban at its meeting earlier this week.
The new ban will include city parks and areas within 20 feet of the doorways, windows or ventilation systems to all city buildings, though both areas must have posted signs indicating the ban. Also included in the ban are city hall, the city library.
The ban passed by a 5-1 vote, according to a report from lenconnect.com. Violators can be subject to a fine of up to $50.
Adrian is located in southern Michigan, approximately 72 miles southwest of Detroit. It is home to roughly 21,000 residents.
