Two brothers that have played a pivotal role in growing the presence of non-Cuban cigars in Germany have announced a new distribution company.

Adam and Daniel Kohlhase have announced their new company, M. K. & Söhne. The brothers Kohlhase say that they are in the process of setting up their new operation with the intent of delivering cigars in early 2024.

“We strongly believe that successful, long-term partnerships are based on trust, mutual respect and shared goals,” said the Kohlhase brothers in a press release. “We look forward to exploring new opportunities and building and reactivating partnerships. We are facing the future with great optimism.”

Last year, the two brothers left Kohlhase & Kopp, the German distribution company that they were at for nearly 30 years. During that time, Kohlhase & Kopp became the German distributor for Ashton, Arturo Fuente, Rocky Patel, Padrón and dozens of other non-Cuban companies. In doing so, Germany became one of the most important markets for non-Cuban cigars outside of the U.S.

The M.K. of M. K. & Söhne is a reference to the brothers’ father, Michael Kohlhase. In keeping with the family theme, Katharina Kohlhase will work in marketing and human resources for the new company.
