In 2020, Joya de Nicaragua released a special incarnation of its Antaño line packaged in a box that was designed to function as both a cigar box and shut the box, a dice game. Last year, Joya de Nicaragua once again created a hybrid cigar box/game.
The Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Power Play Sling Puck comes with 20 cigars: 10 each of the company’s Antaño Gran Reserva GT20 (6 x 54) and Antaño CT Toro (6 x 50). It also comes with everything you need to play sling puck.
Sling puck is a two-player game with the objective to move all of the pucks to your opponent’s side of the box. To move the pucks, you propel them via an elastic band that is attached to both ends of the box. A small hole, barely wide enough to fit a puck, is cut out of the middle of the box. Once you start the game, you shoot the pucks as quickly as you can, hopefully doing better than I did.
A winner is declared when all the pucks are on one side of the board.
The combination of impressive design, dual functionality and the sheer fun that can be had while playing the Sling Puck game are more than enough to place the Joya de Nicaragua Antaño Power Play Sling Puck at number nine on this year’s list. — Brooks Whittington.
