While other cigars have come in cans, the Punch Dad Bod isn’t on here simply because it came in a metal can instead of a wooden box.
Created by General Cigar Co. as a Father’s Day release, the Dad Bod not only comes packaged in cans—themselves placed inside a cardboard four-pack holder—but leaned heavily into the dad concept.
There’s an image of Mr. Punch, the brand’s mascot, grilling with a cigar, but my favorite part is the band, which is designed to look like a necktie. Because the cigar is only 4 1/2 inches long, the tie runs down more than half the length of the cigar, but there’s an easy solution to remove it prior to smoking the cigar. You can easily rip the band right below the tie’s knot where a perforation has been added, and then it will appear like any normal cigar.
Another small feature of the cans is that they can be closed after opening in a design commonly referred to as a stash can or a safe can. While they look like a standard beverage can, it’s actually a two-piece design where the top gold part can be taken off and reattached, meaning the cigars inside will stay humidified with the included Boveda packs. Or, dad can fill up the can with whatever he chooses after enjoying the cigars. — Charlie Minato.
