After months of teasing, MoyaRuiz is almost ready to show its hand with The Rake.

It’s the latest cigar from Danny Moya and Nelson Ruiz and it’s once again being made at Erik Espinosa’s La Zona Cigar Factory and once named after a gaming term. The company’s freshman release, La Jugada, was inspired by Moya and Ruiz’s love of dominos, The Rake draws inspiration from poker.

“The Rake is a poker term which describes the fee taken by the card room for operating the poker game,” said Moya, in a press release. “You gotta pay to play!”

As for the blend, it uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a variety of Nicaraguan fillers, including four ligeros: two from Estelí and a pair from Jalapa. It will be offered in four sizes total, which are also named after poker terms. The Take measures 6 x 52, while the Vig is 6 x 60. The other two sizes are box-pressed: Fix (5 5/8 x 46) and Cut (5 x 52). All four sizes will be packaged in boxes of 20.

A press release indicates that the cigar will be released in “spring 2015,” no pricing was given.
