Long known as the head of Camacho Cigars, Christian Eiroa has recently launched his own brand in CLE, while also working with a few others to broaden his portfolio. He will also soon be launching another line, appropriately enough named Eiroa, which will be a Honduran puro rolled at the company’s new El Aladino factory in Danlí, Honduras.
While I had met Eiroa a few times at various functions, we had never really sat down and talked at length—and while I did not get to spend as much time as I would have liked (my fault, not his)—in the little time we did converse, I was impressed with his obvious love of the multifaceted cigar world. He was also extremely gracious with his time, even when I climbed up on a trash dumpster to get this photograph.
For the photography geeks, here is the technical info. This photograph was taken with a Canon 1DMkIII and a 24 f/1.4 lens, shot at f/1.8 and 1/50sec. ISO was 1000 and light was a combination of ambient and video lights, mostly to fill out shadows under the eyes. I shot raw (.CR2), converted to .jpg in Adobe Lightroom 4.0, and converted to black and white with a custom action using Adobe Photoshop CS6.
