The days of smoking in parks in West Des Moines, Iowa are coming to an end.

Yesterday, the City Council voted to ban the use of essentially all types of tobaccos in its 29 parks. This includes cigars, cigarettes, smokeless tobacco and vapor products.

Warnings will be issued and then subsequent offenses will result in a $100 fine.

West Des Moines is conveniently located just west of Des Moines. It has a population over 60,000.
