Wausau, Wis. has passed a modified smoking ban.

The Wausau City Council voted unanimously to pass smoking is now banned in all enclosed areas, tennis courts and within 50 feet of playgrounds, swimming pools and sports fields.

Last year, the city polled its citizens about a smoking ban and 60 percent of the respondents rejected the idea. That led the city council to reject the smoking ban last November.

Wausau is located in central Wisconsin, approximately 190 miles northwest of Milwaukee. It is home to nearly 39,000 residents.
