Villiger has opened a new Brazilian factory, aptly named Villiger do Brasil.

It’s located in Feira de Santana, a city in the eastern state of Bahia, which is where the company’s previous factory was located. The new factory is a 7,500-square-foot facility that employs 30 rollers. Unlike most handmade cigar factories, rollers are responsible for both bunching and rolling, typically those activities are split between two different people.

The Brazilian factory will only produce cigars made entirely of Brazilian tobacco, which includes brands such as Celebration, Corrida and San’Doro Maduro, only the latter of which is currently offered in the U.S.

“Brazilian tobacco holds a special place in my heart,” said Heinrich Villiger, the company’s chairman, in a press release. “My grandparents saw the value in Brazilian tobacco when they began Villiger Cigars as very small operation in 1888, and we have continued the tradition of using this very special tobacco in many of our brands. We feel that the hard working and passionate team at Villiger do Brasil will help us increase the awareness of Brazilian tobacco worldwide.”

The new factory produces approximately 3,000 cigars per day.
