Villiger Adds La Flor de Ynclan Toro
Villiger Cigars has announced plans to add a toro vitola to its La Flor de Ynclan line this month, with the cigar set to arrive on store shelves in the coming week.
It will be a 6 x 52 vitola priced at $13, before taxes, and will be offered in 10-count boxes. Like the other sizes in the line, it uses a wrapper from Ecuador, binder from Indonesia and fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The line is produced at the ABAM Cigar Factory in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Rene Castañeda, president of Villiger Cigars North America, called the La Flor de Ynclan a continual labor of love for Heinrich Villiger, chairman of Villiger’s board. “It was felt by master blender Matias Maragoto and Mr. Villiger that the new toro vitola provides the smoker with a stronger concentration of the signature Villiger La Flor de Ynclan flavors,” Castañeda said.
“The Villiger La Flor de Ynclan seems to be a blend that we keep going back to,” said Heinrich Villiger in a press release. “Over ten years ago Matias Maragoto and I began on this journey to create a blend that would pay homage to the pre-revolutionary style of Cuban cigars.” He went on to say that he thought the blend could be even better, and the toro vitola will be an upgrade to the robusto vitola.
The La Flor de Ynclan line debuted at the 2017 IPCPR Convention and Trade Show and was released in three sizes, a Robusto (5 x 50), Torpedo (6 x 52) and Churchill (7 x 48), with a 6 3/4 x 43 vitola that the company called a lancero added in the summer of 2018.
Update (Aug. 7, 2019) — Added images provided by the company as well as a quote from Rene Castañeda. The company formally released information about the cigar day after being bound to an exclusivity agreement with another publication.
