In October, Viaje expanded its Exclusivo line by offering a Nicaraguan-made version, appropriately referred to as the Exclusivo Nicaragua. The line debuted in three sizes, Robusto (5 X 52, $8.80), Toro (6 X 50, $9.04) and Double R (5 1/2 X 54, $9.44), but it looks like a fourth will soon be headed to retailers.
Yesterday, Andre Farkas, owner of Viaje, took to Instagram to tease a new Corona Gorda size in the line, or simply CG as it is described on the box.
While little has been disclosed about this new size, it is one that Viaje uses in the original Exclusivo line, measuring 5 1/2 inches long with a 46 ring gauge. Pricing and a release date have not been announced.
The Exclusivo Nicaragua is made at the Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. (TABSA) factory in Estelí, which is owned by Eduardo Fernández of Casa Fernández and AGANORSA. While both the original Exclusivo and the Exclusivo Nicaragua are Nicaraguan puros, they are different blends, and the Nicaraguan version “is intended to complement the existing line of Exclusivo, not replace it,” according to the company.
The Nicaraguan version also comes in a box bearing the company’s tobacco leaf graphic in blue and white, the colors of the Nicaraguan flag, a design that gets carried over to the band as well.
An e-mail to Viaje seeking additional information about the Exclusivo Nicaragua Corona Gorda has not yet been returned.
