A pair of limited edition cigars from Viaje are on their way to retailers, one of which is a new extension to the company’s Craft Series, the other is the latest installment of a line extension that debuted four years ago.

For the Love of the Leaf is a 6 x 52 toro that uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper with Nicaraguan binders and fillers, with production handled by Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. (TABSA), the factory owned and operated by AGANORSA Leaf in Esteli, Nicaragua. Production is limited to 1,000 boxes of 10 cigars, with pricing set at $11 per cigar and $110 per box.

It is the second release of Viaje’s Craft Series, which the company describes as a multi-factory, ongoing journey into tobacco that gets its inspiration from the craft beer industry. The first release was, Bales on Bales, a 6 x 52 toro that was released in May 2018.

The Zombie Antidote is also on its way to stores, having debuted in 2014 and a fairly consistent release in the subsequent years. The same specifics from previous years apply this year, making it a 6 1/4 x 44 lonsdale with a torpedo-style foot the comes priced at $8.92 per cigar, or $214.08 for a plastic jar of 24 cigars. It is produced at Fabrica de Tabacos Raíces Cubanas S. de R.L. in Honduras, and while not confirmed by the company, it is expected to be limited to 500 jars as in years past.

Last year, a Collector’s Edition version of the Zombie Antidote was released, a one-time offering of a specific size in a specific blend.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
