In one of the larger Viaje shipments in a while—six Viajes are on their way to retailers, although half are familiar faces.
The Viaje Antidote and Super Shot are both returning for their second and third years respectively. The Antidote, a 6 1/4 x 44 perfecto, was introduced last year. The Nicaraguan puro will once again come in plastic jars—made to look like a jar of syringes—but the bands will change dramatically.
This is the third year that the Zombie Super Shot is being released. It uses a Nicaraguan Criollo ’98 wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and fillers in the smaller 3 1/2 x 54 shape
Together, the two new cigars—along with the new batch of Zombie Green and Red which are being released this weekend—bring the amount of Viaje Zombies to 13. The Zombie Super Shot is the 12th release for the larger Super Shot family.
Pricing for the Zombie Antidote is the same as last year—$8.92 per cigar with jars of 24 priced at $214—while Zombie Super Shot will be $7.60 per cigar or $190 per box of 25. The company declined to give production numbers. Unlike Zombie Green and Red, which is limited to two retailers this year, these release will head to Viaje retailers nationwide.
In addition, a post on the company’s Facebook page also indicated the new regular production Viaje Exclusivo line is now shipping to retailers. Three sizes will be available year-round: Robusto (5 x 52, $8.40), Toro (6 x 50, $8.64), Double R (5 1/4 x 54, $9.04). All three sizes come in boxes of 25.
There’s also another Exclusivo shipping, but it’s branded as a White Label Project release.
‘In addition, while Exclusivo was under production, lines got crossed and Churchills were rolled,” stated Viaje in an email to retailers. “Rather than smoke them all ourselves, we decided to share with all of you.”
The 7 x 49 Exclusivo Churchill is the 14th release in the White Label Project line. While the line traditionally sees cigars released in bundles, this release will be boxed. Pricing is set at $8.88 per cigar or $222 per box of 25. The label indicates it is limited to 150 boxes of 25.
