On March 15, one new Viaje will head to stores and one old Viaje release will head to stores.

Earlier today, the company’s social media showed off two cigars: PHAT Purple Jalapeño and Zombie Antidote 2021.

The PHAT Purple Jalapeño is a new cigar, part of Viaje’s Pepper Series that began in 2015. It’s a variation of the 2020 release of Viaje PHAT Jalapeño, itself a cigar based on the original Viaje Jalapeño from 2015.

“The purple variety shares a similar bite to a regular jalapeño, but there is a little more sweetness to these chilies,” said the company on social media.

When asked to elaborate on the change, a representative said that the company chose tobaccos that “dialed back strength and added sweetness.”

It is the same size and price as the other PHAT cigars from Viaje: a 5 3/16 x 55 perfecto with an MSRP of $9.44 per. The representative from the company told halfwheel that it is a Nicaraguan puro and made in Honduras, though a factory was not specified.

When asked how many cigars were being released, the representative replied, “Just the right amount.”

As for the Zombie Antidote, it will return after a two-year hiatus. The cigar is designed as a follow-up to the company’s Zombie Series of cigars with the idea being that after the Zombie cigars land at stores, people would need an Antidote cigar.

The Viaje representative told halfwheel that nothing has changed from the 2018 release. That means it will be a 6 1/4 x 44 lonsdale that has a tapered foot similar to a torpedo, but with a round head. The Viaje Zombie Antidote is a Nicaraguan puro that is made at Raíces Cubanas in Danlí, Honduras.

MSRP is set at $8.92 per cigar and it comes in plastic jars of 24 cigars with packaging designed to mimic a jar of syringes.

Update (March 5, 2021) — The original version of this story misquoted Viaje. It has been updated.
