Viaje has quietly released an extension to its Circa ’45 line, adding a maduro version that has begun showing up at stores recently.
For this version, the original’s Ecuadorian corojo wrapper was replaced with a Mexican San Andrés maduro leaf while keeping the same Indonesian binder and Dominican filler.
The three sizes are also the same as in the original release, all of which come in 25-count boxes:
- Viaje Circa ’45 Maduro No. 1 (5 x 52) — $12.40 (Boxes of 25, $310)
- Viaje Circa ’45 Maduro No. 2 (6 x 54) — $13.20 (Boxes of 25, $330)
- Viaje Circa ’45 Maduro No. 3 (5 1/2 x 58) — $14 (Boxes of 25, $350)
One change though is that the No. 2 and No. 3 sizes have swapped their sizes—the No. 2 in the natural is a 5 1/2 x 58 while the No. 3 is a 6 x 54—a change that is said to be coming to the natural version of the Circa ’45 as well, according to a retailer. Like the original version, these are made at the PDR Cigars factory in Tamboril, Dominican Republic.
A spokesperson for Viaje declined to comment on the release. A spokesperson from Atlantic Cigar Co. said they are one of two stores in the United States to get the release.
Originally destined to be a European market release when it was announced in the fall of 2016, the line began showing up in limited quantities in the United States around the first of the year.
