It’s a collaboration, but it’s not Collaboration.

Viaje has announced that it will be partnering with Quesada Cigars for the inaugural version of Juntos. While the name is new, the concept is not. It was previously known as Collaboration, although the company had to change the name due to a trademark issue.

The new cigar is a 6 x 54 toro extra with a Dominican negrito wrapper, Dominican criollo binder and fillers that are listed as “criollo ’98 and ligero tobacco from Nicaragua,” according to an article in Cigar Insider who first reported the story.

A spokesperson for Viaje confirmed the details to halfwheel.

As the old name implies, the project is designed to allow Viaje to partner with factories, retailers or others to produce unique cigars. This is the first time that Quesada and Viaje are working together, which is a bit different than the first two Collaboration releases.

In 2014, Viaje partnered with Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. (TABSA). While it was part of the first shipment of Viaje cigars made at TABSA, Viaje owner Andre Farkas had worked with much of the TABSA team through its AGANORSA tobacco business and making an earlier release at the TABSA-affaliated Casa Fernández Miami.

Last year, the company worked with PDR Cigars, but it didn’t arrive on shelves until a few months after another PDR-made Viaje had been released.

Like the previous Collaboration cigars, Juntos will be shown off at the IPCPR Convention & Trade Show which takes place in July. It is limited to 1,000 tins of 20 cigars.
