Viaje Partners With E.P. Carrillo for Second Juntos Release
The second installment of Viaje’s Juntos project will be at stores this month, and it will come by way of E.P. Carrillo.
This year’s version of Juntos includes a pair of cigars, each using a blend of a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and fillers from Nicaragua. The two sizes—a 6 x 54 toro and a 6 x 54 torpedo— are both priced at $14 per cigar.
The new project is being produced by the Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. factory, which is owned by Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, Jr. The two companies worked together on the Viaje Piña that was released in June 2017.
This is a follow-up to the 2016 version of Juntos which was created with Quesada Cigars; the 2018 version shares the packaging format of that release, with two tin jars coming together to form the complete package. One tin holds 10 of the toro, while other holds 10 of the torpedo. A total of 500 tins are being produced and will ship to all Viaje retailers beginning on Feb. 19.
It’s also the continuation of a series of collaborative releases between Viaje and prominent factories; in 2014, Viaje partnered with Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. (TABSA), and in 2015 partnered with PDR Cigars.
Both of those cigars were released under the name Collaboration, though it was changed to Juntos in October 2015 due to a trademark claim by Fairmont Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Alec Bradley. Juntos is a Spanish word meaning together.
