Next week, Viaje will be shipping a pair of new releases to retailers, the newest iteration of the Skull and Bones M?stery and a new Peppers release that appears to be the return of the GP 10.31.

A spokesperson for the company declined to disclose any information about the two releases, saying that “all stays a mystery until the shipments arrive at retail.” The cigars are scheduled to ship to stores on Oct. 17, according to a comment made on Instagram by the company.

The Skull and Bones line dates back to May 2010, when it debuted with the Daisy Cutter. The second release was simply known as “?” and was a predecessor to the M?stery line. Since its debut the M?stery has appeared 11 times, in a number of sizes and with an evolving design for its logo. As befitting a line with the name M?stery, the company has not disclosed any of the blend details or where the cigar is being made.

This year’s release has an MSRP of $11.52 per cigar and will come in boxes of 25. It is box-pressed.

As for the new Peppers Series release, the company included an icon of a ghost in the announcement, and the box design features the same ghost image that was used on the Viaje GP 10.31, which was released in October 2017 as part of the company’s White Label Project. In the announcement about the cigar on social media, the company said that “these Peppers are our most recent WLP graduate receiving their own proper branding,” which suggests this is the same, or at least a very similar cigar to the GP 10.31. That cigar was a 4 7/8 x 50 perfecto with a Nicaraguan corojo wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The factory that produced that cigar was not disclosed.

There are two cigars shipping to stores Ghost Peppers S (4 7/8 x 50, $9.84) and Ghost Peppers L (5 3/16 x 55, $11.92). Both cigars will come in boxes of 25 cigars.

The Viaje Peppers Series dates back to 2015 and is a collection of small perfectos that get their names from different types of peppers. Thus far, the line includes the Jalapeño, Ghost Pepper, Carolina Reaper, and Scotch Bonnet, as well as a line extension of thicker versions called the Phat Jalapeño, Phat Carolina Reaper and Phat Purple Jalapeño.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
