Altadis USA has announced a new addition to its growing VegaFina brand, the VegaFina Nicaragua, which will be hitting store shelves this month.

VegaFina Nicaragua Single Cigar

The cigar is a Nicaraguan puro, using a Nicaraguan Habana 2000 wrapper from Jalapa, a seco leaf from Jalapa for the wrapper, and a filler blend of ligero and seco from Jalapa with viso from Estelí. The company says it’s a medium to full bodied flavor profile with woody and spicy notes the most prevalent.

It’s the latest in a string of new releases this year that have featured the Central American country in the name, as General Cigar Co. released COHIBA Nicaragua, while the KUUTS Nicaragua, 1502 Nicaragua, and 2013’s Davidoff Nicaragua can all be found on store shelves. Altadis has also featured Nicaraguan tobacco in several other lines, including this year’s Espada by Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta RyJ and the Juan Lopez line, which is a Nicaraguan puro.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
