A bit later than originally announced but ahead of the most recent schedule, Drew Estate has begun shipping the Undercrown Shade SUPREMA to Drew Diplomat retailers across the country.

The cigar is a 6 x 50/54 perfecto, and it’s also the first time that the brand is getting a limited edition addition in the U.S. The blend remains the same, meaning an Ecuadorian Connecticut shade wrapper over a Sumatran binder and a filler of Dominican criollo 98 and Nicaraguan corojo and criollo leaves. It is priced at $9.60 per cigar or $47.99 for a box of five.

“The Undercrown brand message is an unwavering tribute to the buncheros and rolleras who work the factory floor at La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate,” said Jonathan Drew, president and founder of Drew Estate, in a press release. “We owe them so much and deeply respect their talent and commitment. We are incredibly proud to dedicate the Undercrown Shade SUPREMA to them.”

The company initially said it would be at retail by Father’s Day, though adjusted that schedule to be a September release. The Undercrown Shade line debuted in 2015 in six sizes, and the SUPREMA becomes the 11th size for the line and the second limited edition, joining the Undercrown Shade John Aylesbury, a limited edition for Germany.

The Undercrown Shade SUPREMA is part of the company’s new releases from the 2019 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
