E.P. Carrillo has once again teamed up with online retailer Bespoke Post for a cigar-themed holiday box, and once again it includes a pair of previously unreleased cigars.

The Churchill Box, which was released earlier this week, features four E.P. Carrillo cigars, two of which are regular releases: a 5 x 50 E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut Brilliantes, and a 6 1/8 x 50 Perez-Carrillo La Historia Doña Elena.

Also included are two unreleased cigars, the first of which is billed as a prototype for the E.P. Carrillo 5 Year Anniversary that came out in August. This prototype measures 6 3/4 x 49 and uses an Ecuador Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and filler from the Dominican Republic, a completely different blend and size from the cigar that was actually released, though it does share the same primary band.

The second cigar is simply called the Unreleased Family Blend #0409, described as being a unique, unreleased blend from E.P. Carrillo’s personal humidor. It measures 6 1/2 x 54 and uses an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler for a medium-to-full bodied cigar.

The box also includes a small humidification pack from Boveda, four cedar spills from Commonwealth Cedar Spills, an unbranded guillotine cigar cutter, a reclaimed wood ashtray/candleholder from Europe2You and a candle from Bespoke Post. It sells for $55 per box, or $45 as part of a Bespoke Post subscription.

Bespoke Post EP Carrillo Churchill 2014 box

It’s the second straight year that E.P Carrillo has worked with Bespoke Post on a Churchill box; last year’s version included the regular production Edición Limitada 2013 and Inaugural Limitada 2009, along with a variant of the Edición Limitada 2013 and another unreleased cigar called Family Blend #809.

Production numbers for the project have not yet been announced, as Lissette Perez-Carrillo deferred all questions about the project to Bespoke Post, saying that the project belongs to them. She did confirm that all the details about the cigars are accurate, however.

A representative from Bespoke Post said that the number of boxes being produced is not being disclosed.

About the author

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. I previously covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
