While the cigar industry seems to continue its infatuation with thick ring gauges, every once in a while a cigar comes along that reminds you that very good things can come in small packages, and in this case, it happens to come from a brand closely associated with not just big but often huge cigars: Asylum.

This 4 x 48 Rothschild takes a bit longer to smoke than 20 minutes—my experience had it just under an hour—but given the flavor it has to offer, that’s probably for the better. Keeping with what one might expect from a Honduran corojo puro, meaning a full flavor profile marked by Honduran terroir along with clean, bright pepper and dry, hearty woods, a reminder of how good Honduran tobacco can be when done right. Ignore the timing suggestion of the name but don’t ignore this cigar, its profile more than fills the extra time needed. — Patrick Lagreid.
