The La Flor Dominicana 25th Anniversary celebrated a big milestone not exactly for the company, but for Litto and Ines Gomez, who were celebrating 25 years in the cigar industry. In those 25 years, they—and in turn, La Flor Dominicana—have produced plenty of memorable cigars. Having made our Top 25 list a number of times, even twice in 2015, it's no surprise to see not one, not two, but three LFD cigars on the list this year.
The 25th Anniversary uses an Ecuadorian corojo wrapper that covers binder and filler tobacco grown on the Gomez's farms in the Dominican Republic. The blend has a strength to it that won't be a surprise to LFD fans, but it's a strength that doesn't overpower the rest of the rich, sweet and complex profile.
The quarter of a century that the Gomez family has been in the industry caring for the tobacco from seed to shelf is certainly a success, and the La Flor Dominicana 25th Anniversary is a worthy celebration of that achievement. — Brian Burt.
