Joya de Nicaragua placed four cigars on this year’s Top 25 list, but none were more difficult for most to get ahold of than the Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial Edición Asia.

Unlike the other vitolas in the line before it, the Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial Edición Asia was sent exclusively to several markets in Asia. It is also a limited release, with only 10,000 cigars produced and sold in 10-count boxes marked with a a design that represents the pixiu, a mythical Chinese creature that resembles a lion with wings.

In terms of profile, the box-pressed Cuatro Cinco features flavors of chocolate cake, earth, fresh black coffee and black pepper, all in a cigar with plenty of dense, white smoke and a medium-full strength level. The vitola chosen for the regional Cuatro Cinco release may be the same as cigars found in both of the company’s Antaño, Gran Antaño and Antaño Dark Corojo lines, but the blend is what separates this version of the chubby torpedo from the others. — Brooks Whittington.
