The Vintage 2006 San Andreas features two firsts for the cigar company: not only is it the first blend under the Vintage brand that is being produced outside of Honduras, but it also happens to be the first Vintage blend to incorporate a Mexican San Andrés wrapper.
The regular production line is made up of four different vitolas—Churchill, Robusto, Toro and a 6 x 60 size appropriately named Sixty— that are being rolled at the company’s TAVICUSA factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
While I have enjoyed numerous cigars released by Rocky Patel over the years, the Vintage 2006 San Andreas is one of the best I have smoked from the company, with a complex combination of both dark chocolate and oak on the palate and distinct raisin sweetness on the retrohale. The excellent construction was just icing on the cake and cements the fact that the Vintage 2006 San Andreas belongs on our list for this year. — Brooks Whittington.
