The city of Tonawanda, N.Y. has passed a smoking ban for its parks and recreation areas, though the city isn’t planning on committing much in the way of resources towards enforcement.

While the city has said that signs will be posted in the now-affected areas, it is being looked at as a ban that comes with voluntary compliance. Those signs are being provided to the city at no cost by the Erie-Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition and Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

The ban was approved unanimously, according to

Tonawanda is located in western New York, approximately 12 miles north of Buffalo. It is home to just under 15,000 residents.
