Habanos S.A. has announced that Tomás Marco Domínguez is the company’s new quality director.

Domínguez has worked for Habanos S.A.—the company responsible for the distribution and marketing of Cuban cigars—since 2016 in finance roles, most recently as director of budgeting and control. However, he is also an agricultural engineer and previously worked for more than 10 years as the director of agricultural development projects for Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (the Spanish Agency for International Development and Cooperation).

Coinciding with this move, Oscar Ricote Jorge—who spent 10 years as the quality director for Habanos S.A.—is now heading to Spain to work for the premium cigar division of Tabacalera S.L.U., the Spanish distributor of Cuban cigars.

I am an editor and co-founder of halfwheel.com/Rueda Media, LLC. I previously co-founded and published TheCigarFeed, one of the two predecessors of halfwheel. I have written about the cigar industry for more than a decade, covering everything from product launches to regulation to M&A. In addition, I handle a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff here at halfwheel. I enjoy playing tennis, watching boxing, falling asleep to the Le Mans 24, wearing sweatshirts year-round and eating gyros. echte liebe.
