One of the nation’s largest retailers is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and as such, there are a few exclusives along with it. Thompson Cigar Co. of Tampa, Fla. is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and has plans for a total of five different anniversary cigars this year, two of which have already been released.

The first arrived in March in the form of the ACID Subculture Kindered Spirit Thompson 100th Anniversary Edition. The 5 1/2 x 50 robusto uses a Cameroon wrapper and is described as medium. The release is limited to 1,000 boxes of 10 and priced at $89.95 per box.

Thompson recently took delivery of the Padrón Thompson 100th Anniversary Robusto, a 5 x 54 robusto extra in the Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series that will be offered in both Maduro and Natural forms. That cigar is also limited to 1,000 boxes between the two wrappers. A representative from Thompson Cigar told halfwheel with the majority of the cigars being made with the Maduro wrapper.

The Padrón Thompson 100th Anniversary is shipping now. Jorge Padrón is scheduled to be at the company’s Tampa store on May 30.

Thompson was founded by M.A. Thompson in Key West, Fla. in 1915. In 1960, Robert Franzblau purchased the company and has remained the owner since. More information about Thompson’s 100 years in business can be found here.
