Bob The Cigar Guy (Bob?) — There were two lists from Bob The Cigar Guy, one a top 10, the other a top 15. There were two options to score this list: a. the #1 cigars get 24.5 points, #2 gets 22.5 points, and then cigars 11th cigar on Bob’s(?) list gets 5 points (equivalent to finishing 21st), 12th gets 4, etc. Option B was to treat it like there were two Top 15 lists and score it similar to other publications with multiple lists that lead to more than 25 cigars. Option B seemed to be the more consistent result, so that’s what I went with. It means that cigars #14 and #15 on this list were not awarded points.
Cigar & Spirit — Cigar & Spirits publishes two Top 20 lists, one labeled “Top 20 Cigars 2021” and one “Top 20 Boutique Cigars 2021.” Given The Consensus’s approach of limiting down each list to 25 cigars, only the 13 were considered, though the non-boutique list currently doesn’t have a #13 for some reason. Because there’s no way of telling which #1 (non-boutique vs. Boutique list) is the actual top cigars, both lists were considered ties. The #1 cigars were awarded 24.5 points, the #2 cigars, 22.5, etc. Because the non-boutique list is missing a #13 cigar, only 25 cigars were added to The Consensus.
Cigar Lover — This list is divided into five geographic regions each of which are awarded five ranked cigars. Because there’s no way of telling which #1 is the top cigar overall, the five #1 cigars were awarded 23 points, the five second-place cigars were awarded 18 points, etc.
Cigar Prop — There were two #1 cigars, each was awarded 24.5 points.
CigarHeadz — There was a tie for first place, each cigar was awarded 24.5 points.
Comedy Cigars Music — There was one cigar named #1, there were 10 more cigars listed in alphabetical order. Those cigars were ordered 19.5 points, which would be the equivalent of finishing between 6th and 7th places.
Have a Premium Cigar — There were 19 cigars listed, each was awarded 16 points, which would be the equivalent of 10th place.
Hot Ticket Podcast — There were two lists mentioned during this episode. One of them is listed in The Consensus, but the list from Alex Berezowski was excluded because Berezowski owns MyCigarPack/CigarYard, a retailer.
Leaf Enthusiast — There was a clear first and second place cigar and then 12 cigars listed beyond that. The first two cigars were awarded the normal points and the other 12 cigars were awarded 17.5 points, which would be the equivalent of finishing between 8th and 9th places.
Stogie Press — Stogie Press produces three different Top 15 lists, broken up by the size of a company. Given The Consensus’s approach of limiting down each list to 25 cigars, only the top 1-9 from each list were taken. Because there’s no way of telling which #1 (Small, Medium, or Large Company) is actually the first place cigar, each #1 was awarded 24 points, a three-way tie for first; the #2 cigars were awarded 21 points, etc. The #9 cigars were awarded .3 points.
