Earlier this week, Pete Johnson showed off something that looked rather familiar to the Tatuaje Monster Series; it’s not, but it was intentional.

Instead, the Tatuaje The Jackal is the latest exclusive for Casa de Montecristo of Countryside, Ill. The store said that it was inspired by the jackal of ancient Egypt, though the description sounds more like, Anubis, the Egyptian god represented as half man, half jackal. Anubis was considered a protector of graves and key for the afterlife. Warped Cigars previously made a cigar known as Anubis prior to its relaunch last year.

The boxes for The Jackal not only prominently feature a jackal head, but also Anubis name in hieroglyphs.

As for the cigar, Casa de Montecristo says its been in the works for over three years. The 6 3/4 x 54 torpedo uses an all-Nicaraguan filler blend from two previous Monster Series releases and an Ecuadorian Sancti Spiritus wrapper. While it is not box-pressed, it does feature a shaggy foot similar to that of The Wolfman.

Pricing is set at $139.90 per box of 10 and The Jackal is limited to 2,000 boxes of 10, making it the largest retailer exclusive Johnson has done to date.

Johnson said this is one of his five planned Tatuaje Exclusive Series release for the year following the Tatuaje Drinking AgeThe Rumbo and W Nice Ash 2015.

Casa de Montecristo says pre-orders will begin July 7 with the cigars shipping on Aug. 7.
