While 13 retailers received shipments of the latest rendition of Tatuaje’s Monster Series last week, now stores all across the U.S. can expect to take delivery of the cigar soon.
Tatuaje has begun shipping The Hyde to retailers across the country. This follows last week’s release to the Unlucky 13 retailers. It’s all part of an annual tradition for Tatuaje’s most popular release.
Each year since 2008, Tatuaje has made a cigar based off of a monster character, this year, it’s based off of the Mr. Hyde character from Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Since 2010, Tatuaje has released the cigars in two different packaging options. There are 666 boxes of 13 cigars packaged in dress boxes. Painted wooden boxes shaped like coffins and decorated for the particular release. In addition, there are a substantially larger number of 10-count plain boxes produced.
Thirteen retailers are chosen to receive the bulk of the dresses boxes. They each receive 31 of those boxes, which shipped out last week. The Unlucky 13 take 403 out of the 666 dress boxes, the remaining 263 are sent to other Tatuaje accounts who generally receive between one to three boxes if they receive any dress boxes. All accounts have access to the 10-count boxes, this year a total of 4,500 10-count boxes.
As for the cigar, it’s a 7 x 49 churchill that features a rounded cap similar to the Cuban 109 vitola. It’s made at My Father Cigars S.A. using an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over Nicaraguan binders and fillers.
