Tatuaje’s second redux in its Monster Series is on its way to stores, as Pete Johnson told halfwheel that The Drac Redux 2 began shipping to stores on Friday.

The Drac was the second cigar to be released in Tatuaje’s Monster Series, debuting in October 2009. The redux version will come in the same 6 3/4 x 52 belicoso vitola, with the blend still using an Ecuadorian habano maduro over a Nicaraguan dual binder and filler. Johnson said that he made a minor tweak to the internal blend to achieve “a little more balance and flavor,” however.

Johnson noted that while there are many similarities between the original and redux versions, there are some differences, as the redux has a covered foot, while the bands will be embossed as opposed to the flat, printed bands of the original cigars. Those bands will also be placed in the traditional position, as the original version’s band was wrapped around the very bottom of the cigar’s foot, and upside down on top of that.

Additionally, while the original images of the release featured a black box, Johnson said that most retailers will be getting a red box with black printing:

Pricing is set at $13 per cigar, with production limited to 4,000 boxes of 13 cigars, which is 20 percent fewer than the amount of cigars that Tatuaje released for The Frank Redux in 2021. It is made at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
