The newest size in Tabanero’s Patriarch line will soon be on its way to stores, as the company has announced that it is ready to release the 6 1/2 x 54 Double Robusto vitola.

Like the other sizes in the Patriarch line, it uses an Ecuadorian habano oscuro wrapper, Mexican San Andrés filler, and an undisclosed filler, all of which the company describes as being “top-tier.” While Tabanero is known for its retail store and small rolling operation in the Ybor City neighborhood of Tampa, Fla., this line is made at Tabacalera Pages in Estelí, Nicaragua, and each cigar undergoes a year of aging prior to its release.

The Tabanero Patriarch Double Robusto is priced at $59.99 per cigar and $1,199.80 for a box of 20 cigars. It made its debut at the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show, and was just recently made available in Tabanero’s retail store in Tampa ahead of its release via the company’s website and other retailers.

The line had been slated to be released in the summer, but delays in the packaging pushed back its release.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
