Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG) has introduced a new single-cigar packaging unit designed to allow customers to keep their cigars fresh without the need for a humidor.

The company says it is using a transparent foil and “special poly coating” to help the package retain the proper humidity.

It will launch in July starting with two cigars: Macanudo Inspirado Orange Mareva (5 1/8 x 42) and Don Tomás Clásico Robusto (5 1/2 x 50).

While it will not be heading to the U.S., it will be offered in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and Slovenia before heading to other markets a month later.

“With Humi-pack packs, STG has created the opportunity to display cigars outside of the humidor,” said Stephan Brichau, international sales & marketing manager for STG, in a press release. “This concept is groundbreaking for shop owners as they can now have secondary displays within their shops. It also allows us to gain new touchpoints for consumers, expand distribution and enhance brand awareness. Cigar lovers will benefit, too, from increased portability, and the ability to enjoy a cigar in optimal condition anytime, anywhere.”
